Charities we support

The GSO sees itself very much as a community orchestra and we pleased to be associated with a number of charitable organisations, both local as well as national.  Indeed, the Orchestra provides a platform for Charities and worthwhile causes at each of its 3 major Concerts each season.

During the 2000-2001 Season we supported The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, Multiple Sclerosis, The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Appeal and the Actor's Benevolent Fund during which over £3000 was raised for these worthy causes.  We invite a supporter, or member of each charity to give a short talk on the work of the charity immediately following the interval.

Previous years has seen support for Cancer Research, British Red Cross, Help the Children Appeal of Surrey and N.E. Hampshire, English Churches Housing Group.

In addition, we must include our Sponsors in this matter.  Some of our sponsors support their favourite charity and we are happy to accommodate this whenever we can.
