Charities supported by GSO

The GSO sees itself very much as a community orchestra and we pleased to be associated with a number of charitable organisations, both local as well as national. Indeed, the Orchestra provides a platform for Charities and worthwhile causes at each of its 3 major Concerts each season.

We invite a supporter, or member of each charity to give a short talk on the work of the charity immediately following the interval.

The November 2008 Cathedral concert gave us the opportunity to support the Abracadabra Appeal (reg charity no. 1049776). The appeal is in the process of raising £150,000 to fund the building of a new area for the treatment of children and young people between the ages of 16 and 19 years with cancer. Our retiring collection added a further £600 to this good cause. Thank you for your generosity.
